Griots are West African oral historians, by trade, who travel to explore and upkeep the traditions of their culture. I am a natural born storyteller.
About Me
Griot, LLC. was started by me —Oluwatoyin Salami. I am an event photographer based out of Atlanta, GA. The Griot, LLC. mission is to help rewrite the narrative of the southern African American through my photojournalistic notes. I always aim to expose the best of my subjects and my gift is capturing candid moments in real time. I am at my best when I can document reality. I love to create stellar images for a range of needs including personal, professional, creative, and entertainment.
Why Work With Griot?
I started my career in events producing mid-large scale events and most recently have transitioned to producing reality TV. For 6 years, I was the Production Manager for A3C Festival — I took that experience and went on to become Event Manager for Academy Award Film Festivals (Atlanta Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival) and more. I have worked for HGTV, MTV, VH-1, Bravo, E! and more with productions such as Real Housewives of Atlanta, Married to Medicine, Love Is Blind and many more.
Being on set has developed a sense of urgency for capturing action in the moment and has enhanced my love for cameras. Since starting photography professionally in 2016, my work has been published online and featured in a TIME magazine launch exhibit in Chicago. My knack for anticipating special moments and planning high level events, allows me to produce effortless high quality images for all of my clients, no matter the budget or scale. My clients typically leave refreshed, at ease and confident.
If you have a special event or production, I would love to work with you.
